Emergency Medical Support
The benefit includes telephonic emergency medical advice pending the arrival of a medical team, arrangements for medical attention at the scene, and transfer to the closest and most appropriate hospital.
The benefit also includes transfer of life saving medication / blood if unavailable, as well as transfer to the closest medical facility to the member’s residence if hospitalised away from home.
Trauma and Assault Support
If you experience a traumatic event, know that there is a caring voice just a phone call away.
This benefit includes 24 hour telephonic trauma counselling, R5 000 cover per eligible person (max R10 000 per family per occurrence) for medical treatment relating to a trauma, as well as R5 000 cover per eligible person (max R10 000 per family per occurrence) for face-to-face counselling.
HIV Protection Treatment
The HIV Protection Treatment Service allows you to enhance what you offer your policyholders, employees or members with the following services, available 24 hours a day, entirely at the member’s discretion.
The service includes telephonic trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder counselling, three psychiatric consultations per incident where a member was at risk of HIV infection, three HIV blood tests per incident – one immediately following the event, the second after six weeks and the third after three months unless the member is HIV positive at the time of the first blood test. If an HIV negative member has been exposed to HIV then, on doctor’s orders only, he or she will be provided with a 30-day starter pack of anti-retroviral medication, a seven day course of medication to prevent STI infections, a ‘morning after’ pill to prevent pregnancy in rape cases, registration for an HIV management programme, and 24 hour telephonic access to our HIV counselling centre for information, advice and support.
Should the member be HIV positive, FMS will provide 24 hour telephonic trauma and HIV counselling, three consultations per incident with a specialist, registration for an HIV management programme if necessary, a seven day course of STI medication and a ‘morning after’ pill to prevent pregnancy.
Home Assistance
The Home Assistance Service is a 24 hour helpline that your members can consult for referrals regarding emergency household repairs, anywhere in South Africa. This service includes assistance with electrical problems, plumbing, locksmiths, glazing and appliances such as fridges, freezers, stoves, and washing machines. Includes free call out and first hour of labour.
Grocery Benefit
FMS will facilitate the sourcing, distribution, support and administration of shopping vouchers to members claiming from clients. These vouchers are sent directly to the member via SMS. The voucher is incredibly helpful for those every day needs as well as assisting with extra purchases during the bereavement phase when family and friends visit.
The shopping voucher is redeemable at selected major retails stores and the value is to be determined by the client.
Health Support
When emergencies happen, very few people have appropriate first aid knowledge and don’t know what to do. By adding the health benefit to your policy, you give your customers, members or employees the peace of mind of knowing that whether it’s a fever or a meningitis scare, they have access to trained, professional, telephonic advice that will deal with any health query, 24 hours a day. The following benefits are covered including the Audio Health Library, access to health advisors, first aid and other emergency medical advice, counselling on chronic and dread diseases, stress management techniques, assistance on coping with addictions such as drugs, alcohol and other substances, explained medical terms, results of tests and information relating to medication.

Dial-a-Teacher
Dial-A-Teacher provides a telephonic educational service to scholars through access to a dedicated team of experienced and qualified teachers. This benefit replaces the need for expensive extra lessons. The panel of qualified teachers are ready to take calls related to homework problems on any subject from Grades 4 – 12 and in English and Afrikaans.
They will also assist the member’s children with any educational related queries.
Education Assist Service
This benefit is offered through an online platform with a back-up team who handle enquiries via a ticketing system. Textbook summaries are available for all government, private and home schooling textbooks.
For languages and mathematics, we supply explanations, practice test papers and memos.
Roadside Assistance
It is a great source of comfort to know that wherever you are, should your car break down, you are just a phone call from help. The Roadside Assistance service provides three options to your clients ranging from advice to a fully comprehensive roadside assistance and recovery program.
The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be structured to your requirements.
